moonlighting in refridgeration repair

Our refridgerator was broken and my mom left the door open so she could clean it before the repair man arrived.  But Hugo and I thought we should take a look first.

hands on investigating to locate the problem....

wait a minute, Archer has spotted the trouble, looks tricky......

but not for Hugo, he can fix it!

Bye-Bye to Nigel

Nigel
September 1994 - November 2010

We had to say goodbye to Nigel on Friday.  Nigel was 16 years old and we will miss him very much.

My mom says that when Nigel was my age he could be just as naughty as I am.  He was very sneaky and could always find a hiding place. He was so tricky that many times my mom couldn't find him and she thought he ran away and would start to cry. Then he would pop out and surprise her!  Like me he also loved to jump and climb up to the highest spot so he could watch everything.  Before I came along Nigel had another brother named Cornelius.  My mom says they were very best friends and Nigel cried for a whole week when Cornelius didn't come home.  Below is my mom's favourite picture of Nigel and Cornelius.

Even though Nigel and I were not best friends we did have a bit of fun together and I will be lonely without him.

Trip to the Vet

I should have known that nothing good was in store for me ....this was not a typical Saturday morning!

My mom brought out the carrier - if I was thinking I would have know to run and hide. But I was tricked by some sweet talk and before I knew it - locked in the carrier. Not impressed - I find this mode of transportation very undignified, in fact (as you can see) I could not even bring myself to look at the camera.  My freedom and authority was taken from me but I still did not suspect what was to come....

We arrived at the Vet's by taxi - during the drive I tried to plead my case to the taxi driver, but he wouldn't listen - I made absolutely sure he would hear me - but still he wouldn't listen.  The reception area at the Vet was quiet for a change; just me and a labradoodle - he came over to inspect my carrier and flaunt his ability to roam freely!  I wasn't scared yet - in fact I came out of my carrier and sat on my mom's shoulder - we inspected the toys that were for sale and then I let the girls at reception be delighted by my blue eyes.  They also agreed the Archer was a great name for me.

Eventually I was called into the examination room.  Dr. Teeger seemed happy to see me.  First thing - check my weight - I was not sure that the scale was accurate...

and I expressed my displeasure.....

Perhaps I should have tried charm instead because there was no hesitation when he brought out the needles - yes plural - not one but two needles (how could this be happening). You think two needles is rough? Next he cut my nails - front and back!  I decided to hiss and let him know who was boss - but again my plans worked against me.  It was my intention to intimidate Dr. Teeger (the same as I do Nigel) but once I opened my mouth (wide) in preparation for an awe inspiring hiss - he thought I was asking for my teeth to be inspected!! Well, my teeth are fine, but gums are a bit red....

Eventually I came home; safe for another year.  My mom must have felt quite a bit of guilt over the trauma I had endured - she went to Petsmart.  I now have a new crinkle tunnel, a water fountain, and a new mat in front of the litter box!! All is well that ends well!

Test from phone

My mom just got a new smartphone and we are trying it out. Must use my paws very carefully on the sensitive keyboard! !
Let's see if this works.....

I am starting to think that I must be a distinguished cat. I have been bestowed with several names, each of which describes one aspect of my complex personality.

Archer: speaks for itself (historical, regal, strong, familiar yet unique).

Archerkat: light hearted. Mainly used for my online activities - social networking and such.

Archie Pants: this is for the times when I am playfully mischievous, wagging my tail (and bum) usually results in the use of this name.

Pepper Cat: I sometimes like to play rough - it could be misinterpreted as being nasty - not true, I'm still young and testing my boundaries!

Purr Baby: staring at my mom with my big blue eye and snuggling close - this is one of my favourite names (her favourite too).

I often need to pursue Purr Baby status after Pepper Cat has overstayed his welcome.

Lazy winter days

Hello, sorry to say, I haven't been keeping up with the blog, must have learned that from my mother! But here is a picture of me working at the blog, trying to translate my thoughts to words.

Since we last spoke, I have had my first birthday. Because it fell on a weekday, I was promised a party the following weekend. Well I hope my second birthday has more to celebrate. I don't think a quick run up and down the hall, eating some Fancy Feast and a belly rub really qualifies as a party, but then again I have nothing to compare it to!

We spent the last few weeks watching the Olympics and are very proud of the Canadian athletes. I might start training for the Olympics myself. I'd be guaranteed a gold in High Jump and would probably master Hurdles as well! I'm fast and I love to run and jump. Run out the front door and down the hallway, jump on the table or fridge (DOWN!!). Nigel is not so energetic, mom says that he was mischievous when he was my age, but these days he just likes to sleep and look out the window. I try to get him to wrestle or play tag but he's just not interested.
